Smiles--Earl Fuller's Rector Novelty Orch., 1918
From 11/16/1918: A reasonably lively Rector Novelty Orch. side, though not among the jazzier Fuller efforts (and I've always regarded his Columbia 78s as far more interesting, jazz-wise, then his more famous Victor sides). At least the percussion comes through loud and clear, and... I had a false memory of a vocal refrain on this one. As in, the only vocal refrain ever featured by this band. That's the problem with false memories--they're so undependable.
