Raglan tees have definitely caught on as one of the latest trends. Almost everywhere you look you can spot a raglan (baseball style tee) in a crowd of people. Using heat transfer vinyl to decorate these baseball tees is a great way to cash in on this latest fashion statement.
WHAT WE USED:
Vinyl Cutter
Hotronix® 16x20 Auto Open Heat Press
SISER® EASYWEED™
SPECTRA® Bling
Tri-Blend Raglan Blank
WHAT WE DID:
Raglan shirts used to be thought of as just a baseball or softball practice option. While they are perfect for selling to teams, especially ones you already sell uniforms too, as practice jerseys, they are also great for fashion garments as well. If you are selling uniforms to a sports team, take advantage of the fact that you can offer raglans to the player’s family as well. For instance, shirts that say “baseball mom” or “baseball sister”. Why not throw in one for the grandparents, girlfriend, or aunts and uncles too? If you look around on Etsy or Pinterest, you will find tons of raglans decorated with many different quotes and designs such as Mom related sayings, monograms, and bachelorette designs.
With the raglan we created, we used a simple name and number design for the back of the shirt. For the front, we just used the small team emblem that was available in CadWorx Live. We cut this design using Siser Easyweed with our vinyl cutter.
Once we had cut and weeded our design, we heat applied at the recommended temperature of 305ºF for 10 seconds. A quick and simple design and the application was all this garment required. Think of the easy money to be made on a whole team’s practice shirts!
Tri-blends are an in demand garment choice right now, so make sure you offer this upgrade option to your buyers! If they get a chance to feel the difference between a 100% cotton raglan and a tri-blend, they are more than likely going to opt for the upgrade. That means more money in your pocket!
