LONDON! - extreme tropo FM DX (1440km!)
BBC Radio 4 on 93.5 MHz from Wrotham near London, UK received over 1440 km in Góra Kalwaria near Warsaw in Poland via extreme tropospheric ducting propagation on 27.06.2019.
At around 4h00 local time I was informed by my FM DX colleagues (Lukasz929 and Konrad DX - thank you guys!) about the unexpected solid tropospheric signals from UK, NL, BEL & GER. I was able to join the observations myself only around 9:30. I was lucky to get very last glimpses of that extreme tropo with Wrotham on 91.3, and 93,5.
Antenna: 6-el. external Yagi, V-polarisation
Tuner: XDR-F1HD
It is interesting that on previous day Central Europe experienced a heavy heatwave with temps reaching 38 Celsius, falling down next day, today to mid 20C. Strong propagation was forecast by W.Hepburn maps (6AM map used for this presentation). UK happens very rarely in Poland via tropo - only once for couple of years - and it was the first time ever we got it this strong!
