Patel's and Anthony's Jumbo Steel
Harsh Patel and Anthony Musyoki, the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer (respectively) of Jumbo Steel Mills Limited respectively, share with us the growth trajectory of Jumbo Steel Mills LTD from a small trading outfit selling building materials in 1990 to one of Kenya’s largest manufacturing companies. We met with the two at their new plant in Kisumu which sits on 27 acres and serves the Ugandan and Kenyan markets. When nearly two decades ago Harsh’s father made the move to establish a steel plant in Mombasa, many lending institutions were reluctant to finance such an ambitious project. I&M Bank was not one of them and this begun a journey of mutually beneficial support between the two organisations. Today, the company operates four divisions: Plastic Tanks, Steel, Hardware and Mattresses. Congratulating I&M bank on our 50-year anniversary, Musyoki who refers to the Bank as a “one-stop shop” highlights his pleasure at the fact that our financial solutions integrate with their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system enabling them to streamline their business processes and gives a special mention to our Kisumu Branch Manager, Ashok Kabra.
