George Arunga, Businessman, Kisumu
George Arunga is familiar with an I&M Bank very few people can recall. His memory of the Bank goes as far back as over three decades ago when we traded as Investments and Mortgages Limited and the entire operation was housed in a low rise building at the site of the now iconic I&M Bank Tower in Nairobi’s CBD. He commends the Bank for expanding its footprint into the Western region of Kenya which he now calls home following his move to Kisumu in 1990. The businessman who also often interacts with our Kitale branch is excited about the economic prospects of our foray into Busia this month and encouraged us to explore Bungoma as a possible new location. George who has enjoyed loan facilities from I&M Bank of over KES 50 million highlights the need for lending institutions to step up and catalyse Kenya’s economic development so the country can meet the increasing demands of a rapidly growing population.
