Dr Alessia Platania is a theoretical physicist specializing in quantum gravity, black hole physics, and cosmology. She is currently an assistant professor at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, where she leads a research group focused on non-perturbative aspects and intersections of asymptotic safety and string theory. Dr Platania earned a double PhD in Physics from Radboud University in the Netherlands and the University of Catania in Italy.
