Grace and the Candlelight

There's a book called Moonfleet, where the lead character promises her love that whilst he goes out to sea, she'll leave a candle on in her window. When he returns a few years later, she's kept her word. That's where the title is from, the whole concept of the song is about leaving someone you love to travel somewhere for some amount of time.
