Thessalonians - Tim Brooks
A song from my live EP from a really dark place.
I used to be quite religious, I've also had my own inner battles. These things don't mix well, you end up fighting with the thing you've been told to put your trust in. It mentions in Thessalonians 5:2 that Jesus will return like a thief in the night, and that's the subject matter as well as where I got the title.
There's a lot of Bible centric referencing in the lyrics that I'm pretty happy with.
I never play it live mind. Not least because of the awkward tuning, but the whole lyrical concept of being able to rationalise the idea that suicide is a logical step and telling Jesus that you don't want saving...yeah.
Not even ashamed to admit that the sharp intake of breath at 3.17 is me steeling myself to sing songs about accepting my demise.
