A song about survival, live from some wheat fields in Witney, written over about 7 months. It didn’t start out as a song about the world right now..but there are definite parallels in that regard.

Lyrics:

Gimme all your false hope, it’s humanity’s greatest invention
And let the static wreck the hairs on my neck, stand em up to attention
And we’ll build up an offering, for any god that we still believe in
Cos heaven knows we need them more than we needed heaven before

So take my hand and have no fear
The world it ends but the end aint here
And all of this will disappear with time

So gimme your stupidest grin
This picture’s turned a darker shade of grey and it’s up to us to colour it in
And on this speeding bullet of shadows and dust, magma and crust and all the souls scratching out for something to trust
Trust me they’re all in it with us

So take my hand and hold on tight
We’ll burn it down and we’ll rewrite
As we lock all the doors turn out the lights and step out into the night

Cos there’s nothing as strong
As the sound of a human heart that’s all fits and starts as it beats out the words to your favourite song
Cos bones will heal and bruises turn a lighter shade of blue so if it works for you, then it works for me
This world is ours, and it's still anything we want it to be

So I’ll cut us loose from this noose around both of our necks.
It’s the devil’s last dance and this is as bad as it gets
Cos this year it killed us but honey we’ll rise from the dead
Yeah this year it killed us, but we aint finished just yet.
