Pro Tools creating music loops
If a music audio clip is loopable - Command +D to make more copies, also Alt + R for repeat to make loops - first check if clip is loopable by selecting and putting in loop playback
Select the general area of a loop.
With the selector, mark into an audio clip as starting point and to tell the program what clip the cursor is on.
Hit the spacebar to start playback,
While playing back, down arrow to mark in, up arrow to mark out with a selection.
This should create a general area where you are selected.
Now put the session in loop blackback and use “shift + select” the adjust the bounds of the selection for fine tuning the loop.
Shift Select to refine and fine tune a selection. Oftentimes, if you select something it’s not precise enough to loop correctly you need to fine tune the head and tail of an audio clip. Shift will allow you to modify the start or end of an existing selection. If you don’t hold down shift then you will lose your selection and have to make a brand new selection.
Zoom to Head and Tail of audio clip by Left arrow for the head and right arrow for the tail. If you zoom into a selection it by default goes to the head or start of selection. The right arrow will go to the tail of the selection. This is good for doing ultra precise selections, this is required for loops and other detailed edits.
All these tips work great with transient basked material like drums and percussion. Loops may be a bit more difficult to create when there’s no clear transient to edit.
Used shift select to adjust bounds of selection, test by loop playback, copy and paste out to loop it.
