Blackburn Buccaneer last Air display at Cranfield 1993
The Blackburn Buccaneer is a maritime strike, mid-wing, twin-engine aircraft manufactured by Blackburn Aircraft Limited later known as Hawker Siddeley. The Royal Navy originally procured the Buccaneer as a naval strike aircraft capable of operating from their aircraft carriers and able to deliver nuclear weapons as well as conventional weapons for anti-shipping warfare. The maiden flight of the Blackburn Buccaneer took place on the 30th of April 1958 and it went into service on the 17th of July 1962. Primary users were the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and the South African Air Force. There were approx. 211 Blackburn Buccaneer produced. The Blackburn Buccaneer retired from service on the 31st of March 1994.
