Rockwell OV 10 Bronco in perspective
The Rockwell OV-10 Bronco is a turboprop light attack and observation aircraft manufactured by North American Rockwell. The OV-10 Bronco was developed as a special aircraft for counter-insurgency (COIN) combat. The components of the OV-10 Bronco could be disassembled and stored in boxes and transported in a 6 x 6 truck together with the equipment needed for re-assembly in the field. The OV-10 Bronco can take off and land on roads as well as in cleared jungle areas and was mainly used as a forward air control, helicopter escort, armed reconnaissance and utility light air transport aircraft. The first flight of the OV-10 Bronco was on the 16th of July 1965 and it entered service on October 1969. Primary users were the United states Marine Corp, United States Air Force, United States Navy and the Royal Thai Air Force. There were 360 built between 1965 and 1985. Even though the OV-10 Bronco retired in 1995, there are still some used for limited services.
