I Took the Santa Claus Express to the Arctic Circle
I boarded the Santa Claus Express in Helsinki for an overnight journey to the Arctic Circle, arriving in Rovaniemi just under 12 hours later.
From very little sleep, to surprisingly comfortable cabins, and some genuinely incredible views, this train covers around 880 km across Finland while you sleep.
I had a private cabin for two with a private en-suite bathroom - which sounds luxurious…
until you realise the shower was the worst I’ve ever had and somehow colder than the frozen Baltic Sea.
