Exercise adherence has been defined in research literature both as exercise behavior within a structured program and as exercise maintenance outside of a formal program.

Average adherence rates to programs vary, however one documented average suggests that an average of 66% of people adhere to an exercise program once it has begun 💪

One study which had an adherence rate of 94% (28% higher than normal) highlighted that registering for, and completing an event with friends had a significant impact on improving adherence ✅

The reasons why are listed below👇

👉 The group was homogenous (they were roughly the same weight, age, and they were exercising with people from their same group).
👉 They traveled to the training and the event together (thereby committing them to the training).
👉 They enjoved the social networks.
👉 They experienced pleasurable feelings associated with increased energy and fitness.
👉 The training was for a finite period of time.
👉 The participants were committed to an established goal.

Now committing to an event won't necessarily get you to your goal, however it could be a good kickstarter to help you gain some consistency in your training 😎
