The Beast John White - inFAMOUS Conduit Stories
John first met a woman named Jane, who told him he was a low-level mentalist. He was told to meet in a remote location, but upon arrival, he was ambushed.
He infiltrated the First Sons after they completed their initiation. John was stationed at the organization's Empire City chapter, and his primary task was to learn what the First Sons had been up to that could be considered a national threat. John was able to get close enough to the group's leader, Kessler, to learn about the device known as the Ray Sphere and its ability to activate the powers of those with the Conduit gene. John would later get promoted, knowing Kessler well enough, and was also given higher-tier
"I was carrying the Ray Sphere out of the lab when Kessler stopped me. It was...strange. He said that I had an important destiny, that I'd accomplish great things."
Following Cole, John was able to get behind him, but it was too late to capitalize when Cole made a reckless turn at a red light. John got off his bike and decided to follow Cole on foot, but he was too late; the Ray Sphere had already been activated, resulting in thousands of deaths and the destruction of 5 city blocks. John approached Ground Zero & saw the Ray Sphere in the center. He retrieved it and made his way to the harbor in an attempt to escape the city with the sphere. There, he and several other civilians were attacked by plague-infected individuals. After dealing with them, John left.
"I'm working with Cole to track down the Ray Sphere. That supersedes everything else. For all we know, the Ray Sphere could be the catalyst that creates the Beast."
During John's call to Cole, the latter surprised him by asking what he wanted to tell his alleged wife Moya. John knew no one named Moya. John informed Cole that he had been duped and pushed his order to retrieve the Sphere. Following this, Cole & Zeke attempted to steal the Ray Sphere, but were unsuccessful after the latter betrayed Cole. From then on, John served as Cole's radio backup & primary accomplice during missions. He had assisted Cole in his efforts to retrieve the Ray Sphere by sabotaging the First Sons' equipment & lowering their overall morale. After several missions, they were able to determine the Ray Sphere. Either path (Hero with the lightning strike or activating as a villain) the Ray Sphere pulls John and rips him apart atom by atom leaving his subconscious in limbo.
A month later, John's subconsciousness reawakened, and the power within him built up until a destructive vortex materialized close to Archer Square in Empire City. Cole raced back to find out what had happened after seeing what had happened by the city's docks. Following his first rebirth, John was changed into a massive pyrokinetic Conduit with skin or husk that resembled molten lava. John's mentality was still fractured during his first rebirth, and he attacked everyone he perceived as a threat. The first and most formidable threat at the time was Cole MacGrath, who identified John as The Beast—a destructive force Kessler had seen in a vision. After the first battle, John reformed after he broken Cole's powers and destroyed Empire City.
John had a hidden agenda when he destroyed Empire City because he was aware of the Ray Field Plague, which was destroying the nation & killing almost everyone. After discovering that conduits are resistant to the plague, he had an innovative thought: open all possible conduits before the disease claims the lives of all people. He made the decision to turn to Cole MacGrath for help, and he proceeded southward to New Marais while destroying state after state, setting off possible Conduits.
Two of the conduits that were activated were Brooke Augustine & Celia Penderghast. The media & news were attempting to determine the cause of these fatalities and the destruction they caused, blaming it on an anomalous occurrence or act of g-d.
Not until much later did John materialize into his human form, standing directly in front of Cole as he handled a shipment of Vermaak 88 Conduit units. By sharpening Cole's senses to the point where he could see the infected plague victims, John attempted to explain everything to Cole. He also led him to the plague ward, where the most vulnerable victims were holed up. He led Cole to the Conduit gene bearer, who was close to death, and forced Cole to view the victims he declared "dead." It was there that John showed Cole his abilities and revealed himself to be 'the Beast'. Cole had the choice to assist John after seeing firsthand what he was capable of doing;
John said, "Humanity is Dead. Help me save what I can."
In the end, NO MATTER WHAT John dies.
