Inspired by the words of Frida Kahlo, "To make pain a talisman that heals, a butterfly blossomed in a festival of colors," the story of María Elena Martínez - the first peritoneal dialysis patient of Renálida- unfolds as a living testament to transformation and hope. Trapped in a cycle of hospitalizations due to cardiorenal syndrome and facing the limitations of hemodialysis, María discovers in peritoneal dialysis (PD) not just a treatment but a liberation to a new existence. This change was forged in the crucible of a collaborative ecosystem, uniting public and private efforts with a single purpose: to love and commit to patients facing chronic renal diseases. María's odyssey highlights the vitality of adopting a proactive approach to illness, the undeniable value of self-care, and the power of a strengthened community. On her journey, equitable access to renal health becomes a reality, demonstrating the transformative impact of care ecosystems that envelop each patient in a cloak of support and love. This narrative invites reflection on how, from pain, strength, healing, and a renewed quality of life can blossom, embodying Kahlo's vision of pain as a bridge to healing and a colorful rebirth. The film was made in 2024.
