Fathers exploit women’s labor even more on family vacation…
Men’s exploitation of labor is so obvious on vacation. Which is all the more sad. Because vacation is the one time when women really need a vacation more than their husband usually, and yet this is the time with a tend to work the most. They do more on vacation than they even would at home. Because at home they usually have school, Friends and neighbors, maybe grandparents, activities, and other things. But on vacation, parents are taking care of kids, entertaining them, and also helping them adjust to being away from home. The emotional labor, the mental load, caretaking that is demanded of mothers on vacation, makes it so that they can literally never rest. And I find that so sad because men become even bigger babies on vacation and they are at home. Even when they have no excuse like work or other commitments, they still will sit by and watch their wives do all of the parenting, including keeping them alive near bodies of water. Weaponized in confidence, entitlement, and all the usual players, that is what’s ruining vacation for women. The constant exploitation of our labor. And it is so so obvious on vacation more than any other time except maybe holidays
