F1's overtaking rules are in the spotlight again after the controversy surrounding Lando Norris' and Max Verstappen's late duel in the US Grand Prix. Norris received a five-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, even though he and McLaren argued he was forced off track by Verstappen.
The stewards ruled that Max was ahead at the apex and was entitled to the corner as per the driving guidelines. This and other bizarre in-race penalties surely has to instigate changes as to what is and isn't allowed in wheel-to-wheel combat.
