Platelet-Rich Plasma for Chronic Wounds
Dr. Wenchun Qu an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville FL, and Dr. Zhen Wang, a Professor of Health Services Research from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, review their article appearing in the September 2021 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings. They found autologous platelet-rich plasma was safe and that it may increase complete wound closure, shorten healing time, and reduce wound size in individuals with lower extremity diabetic ulcers.
