Darah Dilmaghani, MD, a Research Temporary Professional in the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, discusses his article appearing in the November 2024 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, where he examines the potential causes and influences behind the declining birth rates in the United States. Dr. Dilmaghani notes within the declining birth-rates over all, there also remains a high teen birth-rate compared to other developed countries. He recommends given the long-term national impact of both teen pregnancy and decreased fertility rates, there should be focused attempts to improve both reproductive health education and therapeutic and other strategies that counter the declining fertility rate.
