Finally, the day is here. The last fighter has been announced, and the last entry of the Smash franchise is done. No matter what happens, I'm grateful to have been along for the ride since the days of the Nintendo 64. Of all the things I learned from wavedashing in Melee to reverse Falcon Punch from Brawl onward, the most important thing I've learned is to treasure those around you and never take the time you spend with them for granted. Smash was the premier multiplayer game of my childhood, and it brought me close to so many friends of mine. Although we have all gone in separate paths, we can all come back to the same TV and play the same game that had us at each other's throats as children for the same joy that captured our hearts all those years ago. It's sad to see such a central title to my childhood, and many others' childhoods as well, sing its swan song, but I'm confident that the legacy it will leave behind will be irreplaceable. That, and I hope Sakurai can finally get his goddamn hands checked out because he probably has the most SEVERE carpal tunnel syndrome from the hours he worked on Ultimate alone. PLEASE let that man rest. Enjoy!
