Make DOS print faster (in Windows 32 bit)
Many DOS programs are very slow when printing in Windows 32 bit, either directly or through Printfil.
Printfil's printing time is the same as any other Windows program (say Ms-Word) printing a similar document to that printer.
You cannot eliminate the time needed for the printer to physically produce the printed page. You can just act on the time needed for CAPTURING the source jobs ( please search for the "Timer" word at https://www.printfil.com/manualen/c3.htm ).
You can see how much time is needed for capturing your jobs, separating it by the real printing process, simply by enabling the "Preview" option at Configuration : Standard.
If the Preview window is very slow to pop up (it takes much longer than the Timer above), then most probably it's because the DOS program does not close the LPT port at the print job end ( a very common DOS problem, please see https://www.printfil.com/article/slow... ), but we can instruct Windows to do it after a timeout.
Let's go:
Go to Configuration : Standard : Options
Click the LPT_Timeout button
Lower the Windows Timer
Reboot the computer!
Print from DOS to LPT1:
Now print is captured almost immediately
