Why climate changes (Part 4: Human activity causes climate change)
In this video, I show how greenhouse gas concentrations have been tightly linked to temperature over time and have increased dramatically since the start of the industrial revolution. I discuss how greenhouse gas emissions are linked to fossil fuel combustion and how the isotopic signature of carbon in the atmosphere has shifted to be more like the fossil plants we are burning. Finally, I show how climate models and atmospheric physics quantify the warming effects of human activities and different greenhouse gases.
