How to train a puppy to walk on a lead | AdmiralUK
Teaching your puppy to walk on a lead can be a challenge, but it’s worthwhile.
Here’s how you can get your dog ready for walkies:
1) Start training indoors to avoid distractions
2) Guide your puppy to your side using a treat and give it to them
3) Teach them a cue word for coming to you to put their lead on
4) If they pull ahead, call them to you with the cue word and offer them a treat
5) If they pull ahead again, call them back and give them a treat when they listen
6) Once they start walking with you without pulling, start practicing outside
