Toilet training your new puppy or dog early on is essential, so that they don’t start to develop a bad habit.
Here’s how to house train a puppy:
1) Pick a spot in your garden and take them there throughout the day
2) If they haven’t gone to the toilet after 5 minutes, bring them back inside
3) Repeat the process after another 10 minutes
4) If your puppy seems restless when you’re inside, take them back out
5) When your puppy does go to the toilet outside, praise them
Remember to be patient. Your puppy is likely to have accidents, so don’t punish them or get angry, just clean it up and continue the process.
If you’re toilet training an older dog, you’ll need to break their current habit by thoroughly cleaning any areas they’ve been to the toilet before, then repeating the above steps.
