All you need to get started with clicker training your dog is a clicker and treats.
Here’s how to clicker train your dog:
1) Press the clicker and immediately give them a treat
2) Repeat this until they automatically look to you for a treat when they hear the click
3) Hold the treat above their head and when they sit, click and give them a treat
4) Add a command word, for example ‘sit’ before holding the treat up
5) Once they do sit, click and give them a treat
6) Practice. When your dog is confidently sitting, you can gradually reduce the number of rewards but keep clicking
Make sure to only use the clicker for training, otherwise you may confuse them. If a session isn’t going well, stop and try again another time.
