For leading practice; 1. Start with hands up at about neck level. 2. At the moment Uke begins to attack extend your lead arm as though you are going to wave Uke along the line of attack. This is a quick, strike like movement but don't get so close that you stop Uke's attack. 3. Do not jerk your hand back. The pivot of your body moves your hand so that Nage blends with Uke. 4. Finish facing the same direction as Uke. 4. For basic practice do not step towards Uke. Just pivot. If you feel you have to step in have Uke attack faster. With a real attack you will not have time to step in. If you still have time to step in stand closer to Uke. 5. As you practice randomly vary from attacking to Uke's outside (Ura) and Uke's inside (omote). 6. This is a fundamental animal reflex. If it is not working for you that means you are doing something wrong. Study the video to figure out what. If that fails contact me and I will see if I can help.

These techniques look very simple and in a sense they are, but they are not easy to learn. When doing these Nage barely touches Uke and the throws seem like magic. Most people explain them in magical terms but we think it is better to describe them as reflex control. Because the people learning the technique cannot feel what is making them fall it is difficult to learn. If you have a partner and you are trying to learn to do these feel free to contact me at the email address below. At this time I will be happy to work with you.
