This video we take one of four basic leading possibilities and uses it with a forward structure break. If desired, Nage can strike the side of Uke's neck as Nage catches Uke's head for the structure break. The fact that the lead pulls Uke's mind and body forward makes the structure break much easier. The throw is followed by a standard police handcuff position that is appropriate for LEOs. You can find a discussion of the lead at • Aikido: Leading Left to Right Stance .
These techniques look very simple and in a sense they are, but they are not easy to learn. When doing these Nage barely touches Uke and the throws seem like magic. Most people explain them in magical terms but we think it is better to describe them as reflex control. Because the people learning the technique cannot feel what is making them fall it is difficult to learn. If you have a partner and you are trying to learn to do these feel free to contact me at the email address below. At this time I will be happy to work with you.
