Installing a New Diffuser Arm at the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant
Metro Vancouver is building a new outfall system from the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant into the Fraser River to serve our growing population and protect the environment. Treated wastewater will flow from the plant through a 1-km outfall tunnel before being discharged from a multi-valved pipe – the diffuser arm - at the bottom of the river. The new outfall and diffuser arm will ensure that treated wastewater is dispersed over a broad area to maximize dilution and minimize environmental impact.
