Preparing for earthquakes near Iona Wastewater Treatment Plant by drilling -- off a boat!
Seismic resiliency assessment takes place below water as well as on the earth's surface. Metro Vancouver's team has drilled into the bottom of the Fraser River to test the riverbed's soil conditions. This will help predict the effects of an earthquake at the adjacent Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant.
