Let's take a fun quiz on Carbon Dating:
Q1. Which element does carbon dating measure within an organism?
A1. Carbon-14 - Carbon dating measures the carbon-14 found within an organism.
Q2. What is the half-life of the carbon-14 element?
A2. 5730 years - Scientists know that carbon-14 has a half-life of 5730 years. This means that the amount of carbon-14 is halved after 5730 years due to radioactive decay.
Q3. What can we measure using carbon dating?
A3. Age of a dead plant.
Age of a dead animal.
Age of wood or a fragment of bone.
Q4. What can carbon dating be used to find the age?
A4. Ancient human Remains
Q5. Did Willard Libby invented carbon dating?
A5. True

Carbon is an element that is found in every living thing on planet Earth.
Carbon dating measures the carbon-14 found within an organism. Carbon- 14 is an unstable radioactive isotope located within the cells of an organism. It is unstable because after an organism dies, carbon-14 decays or goes away.
After an organism dies, carbon-14 in tissues decreases steadily. Carbon dating measures how fast carbon-14 decays, so we can figure out how long ago an organism has died with how much carbon-14 is remaining in the body. Using carbon dating we can measure:
Age of a dead plant
Age of a dead animal
Age of wood or a fragment of bone
