RWBY: The Ruler From the Stars OST - Clash of Shades
The opening theme to the RWBY x Transformers crossover web animation.
My second wholly original opening theme! The goal here was to make something that sounds like it could come from the RWBY series itself while still being its own thing,. In the conceptualising phase, I decided it should have some synths to give it a minor sci-fi flavour, because space robots.
When composing started, after the intro, I began by doing the main riff, going through a couple of literations until I settled on a vibe I was happy with. The rest however, pretty much stuck immediately. Once the guitars are done, I did the drums, with them also going through some minor changes in the beginning but being one-and-done after.
Once the instrumental was finished, I passed it to Camman to write the lyrics. After a bit of tweaking them together, I fit notes them, added in some harmonies, and hey presto, that's the track finished.
Time spent working on the track: 11 hours.
