JPDE OST: Dreamer
The opening theme of the RWBY visual novel, JPDE.
This is something of a special one, being my first original composition. :D
After discussing the general concept and general vibe with Meinos, who gave me the direction of "something that sounds like a anime opening", I first sketched out a idea with a piano. I started with a bass note to serve as a foundation, and built on that one note at a time. Is that a efficient way of doing things? Probably not, but hey, it worked for me.
Anyway, once that was done, the rest of the process wasn't really different than what I do when arranging something. Just a case of picking instruments and deciding what they'll be doing. When everything was in place, I handed the track to Meinos who wrote the lyrics for it that I then chose not for and ran through my trusty vocal synth. Some adding harmonies and programming later, I added the finishing touches, and blamso. Done.
Time spent working on the track: 23 hours.
