2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series Achieves Top Safety Honors

The recently unveiled Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series has aced the stringent crash assessments conducted by ANCAP, securing an impeccable five-star safety rating.

Introduced to the market last year, with initial deliveries timed just before the festive season, the LandCruiser 300 Series (LC300) lineup, excluding the GR Sport variant, has undergone thorough evaluation by ANCAP, and it has emerged as the class leader in these assessments.

In terms of the assessment criteria, the Land Cruiser 300 Series showcased its prowess most notably in adult occupant protection, boasting a commendable score of 34.08 points out of a potential 38, equating to an impressive 89 percent.

The vehicle's performance across various scenarios was noteworthy, particularly in the side impact, oblique pole, far side impact, and rescue and extraction tests, in which it earned perfect scores. It's pertinent to mention that its lowest score came from the frontal offset test, securing 4.9 out of a total of eight available points.

The Land Cruiser Series demonstrated a commendable standing in child occupant protection, earning an overall score of 88 percent, marginally trailing behind the adult occupant score. Notably, the vehicle achieved full marks in two out of four child occupant tests.

Turning to the protection of vulnerable road users, the Land Cruiser displayed praiseworthy performance, registering a score of 81 percent. This is attributed to the vehicle's successful mitigation of upper and lower leg impacts, as well as its advanced autonomous emergency braking (AEB) capabilities for forward pedestrian impacts, which narrowly missed perfect scores.

Further contributing to its coveted five-star rating, the LC300's safety assist systems garnered 12.4 points out of 16, corresponding to a commendable 77 percent. Notably, the majority of individual assessment categories surpassed the half-mark, with AEB junction assist emerging as the sole exception, garnering 0.89 points out of a possible two.

Despite the considerable anticipation and a limited number of units hitting the roads late last year, production setbacks at Toyota have unfortunately led to extended wait times for interested buyers. Certain customers have been informed that they might have to wait an additional 12 months before receiving their ordered vehicles, highlighting the Land Cruiser 300 Series' exceptional demand.
