Why is DIRECT INJECTION actually bad? Or Good?
Direct injection or GDI is one of the three main types of fuel injection in modern gasoline engines. This type of fuel supply atomizes fuel directly into the cylinder while the classic port injection system sends fuel to the intake manifold where it is mixed with air and through valves goes into the cylinders.
It’s important to know that the direct injection system is much more complicated than the conventional port injection and, as a result, it has much more problems. For example, the carbon buildup on valves can occur leading to poor engine work and loss of power. But it’s just the peak of an iceberg of problems.
