THE LEYSSENS MOLEN LOMMEL
The Leyssensmolen is a post mill in Kattenbos in the Belgian municipality of Lommel. It is also called Treitermolen or Kattenbossermolen. The mill was built in 1797 and was originally located in Olmen also located at the Nothern Flanders fields - Western Europe.
It was built by the owner of a water mill, the Straalmolen, in protest against the establishment near the so-called 'free mills', which could have arisen when the delicious rights, and thus the ban mills, were abolished in the French era. . One of these free mills was the Heimolen, another post mill. That is why the Leyssens Mill was also called the harassing mill. She has always served as a flour mill. De Straalmolen was owned by the Leyssens family.
