💙day 1: HERPES
🧿IT’s Common!
💙there are two strains that we discuss: HSV1 and HSV2
🧿HSV1 is TYPICALLY found orally (or on the skin around the lips/nose/cheeks) and is often transmitted to ALL humans regardless of age/gender through casual contact (sharing drinking glasses/kissing/sharing lipsticks)
💙HSV2 is TYPICALLY found genitally (on vulvas/penis’/buttocks/upper thighs) and can be across ages/genders and is transmitted through skin/skin contact between these organs
🧿you CAN transmit HSV1 from mouth to genitals!
💙you MAY VERY WELL CARRY EITHER OR BOTH STRAINS AND NOT KNOW IT BC many of us are ASYMPTOMATIC (BUT good to know so that you realize that you can STILL get it or transmit it from “asymptomatic shedding” of the viral particles
⁉️why is this “GOOD TO KNOW” you ask? BUCUZ it’s important to realize that it DOES NOT imply infidelity (the virus can remain dormant for decades!) AND to DESTIGMATIZE it—it doesn’t mean anyone is dirty OR promiscuous—it MERELY means you are a human with Friends/Family and MAYBE sexual relationships!!
