CCIR Student Spotlights: JiXin on Impacts of Sequential Choice Architecture in Confectionery Flavor
Jixin Yan is a student at Beijing Haidian Foreign Academy in China. He has always been passionate about economics. His honours and awards include the National Economics Challenge 2023 China National Top Scoring Individual Gold Award, the International Economics Olympiad 2023 Top Scoring Individual Gold Award, and the European Economics Olympiad 2023 National Honourable Award.
Besides his academic achievements, Jixin Yan makes his best effort to contribute to the community. He led a project on the post-Olympic use of venues, writing a 6000-word essay that analysed existing scholarly articles and proposed strategies based on case studies of the Birds’ Nest in Beijing, Stadium Australia, and the Olympic Stadium in Athens. Jixin co-founded a volunteer teaching club, which holds weekly classes and organises various activities, such as sports, during the winter holidays. He also founded a school broadcast club that produces videos combining international news, school news, and sports.
At the CCIR Academy, Jixin's research project, "The Impacts of Sequential Choice Architecture in Choosing Confectionery Flavour among High School Students," explores how the order and structure of choices influence flavour selections among high school students. The study aims to understand the psychological and behavioural effects of sequential choice architecture on decision-making processes in this demographic.
Jixin’s recognition in the CCIR Academy underscores his commitment to research, with appreciation for the guidance and support provided by his professor and the CCIR Academy.
