As salaamu Alaikum everyone! In today's video I throw it back with clips of our emergency flight back home! For those who don't know, I'm an international student in the Philippines and when Covid-19 happened, students were left scrambling trying to make sense of the chaos as policies kept on changing, flights kept getting cancelled and borders were closing. We were initially only given 72 hours to leave the country and airlines took advantage of this policy and insanely jacked up their prices - which prevented more people from trying to get back to their families as they could no longer afford to do so. For days, our plan kept switching from staying and going back and my fellow classmates from the foreign class were stranded in airports, stuck in their dorms or desperately trying to leave.
I just wanted to shed light on the reality of a lot of international students during this time as I feel like this perspective isn't being shown or talked about anywhere.
