3D point Cloud analysis for Forest Inventory
This video shows the results of an eCognition Developer analysis of an aerial lidar point cloud. The goal was to develop a transferable, robust and straight forward rule set to delineate single trees and extract their respective heights, center points and crown diameter.
Input:
Lidar Point Cloud
Output:
Center 3D line for each detected tree from ground to highest point in the center of the tree (height and position)
Mean crown diameter as circle (diameter and position)
