The History of the Dinosaur Buses
Models inspired by American buses are so durable that, despite being manufactured three decades ago, many are still running throughout the country. The last models of these Kings of the Road were manufactured more than 10 years ago.
Even those who aren't very familiar with the history of urban and intercity public transport in the country have a peculiar figure that immediately comes to mind when they think of "highway buses." These are the famous duralumin models that Viação Cometa operated exclusively for a long time. The vehicles, similar to American buses, aluminum-colored and with a powerful engine, left many passenger cars "in the dust."
The first Dinosaur model appeared in 1972 on a Scania BR 115 chassis at the Auto Show. Inspired by the American GM Coach, a world reference in road transport, some Flechas, despite their more than 30 years of history, can be seen on the roads under the banner of smaller companies, transporting vendors or in perfect condition and restored by collectors.
