Rescued and released animals | sun bear entangled by hunter!
The Kampar Resort was assisted by a medical team from the Riau Province Conservation and Natural Resources Center to evacuate the Sun Bear in the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve (CA), Kampar Regency.
"After checking and finding the animal, we immediately dispatched an evacuation team assisted by a medical team to the location," said Head of the Riau KSDA Center, Suharyono, Thursday (3/6/2021).
The protected animal whose Latin name is Helarctos Malayanus was informed that the community was entangled in the nature reserve area. Kampar Resort officers checked and it was true that there was a sun bear entangled in that location.
Arriving at the location, the team immediately sedated and released the noose that tied the bear's left hand. Then the medical team conducted a health check.
"The bear's condition is in good health, there are no serious scars from the snares. The bear is a male, still in his teens. The type of snare is a nylon rope size 10," he explained.
After the snare was released, the bear was given a vitamin injection to recover and regain consciousness 30 minutes later the bear regained consciousness.
Because the bears are in good health and have not suffered serious injuries due to snares, the bears are released into the wild around the scene of the incident which is their habitat
At the same time, the team also conducted socialization and appealed to the local community not to set up wildlife traps in the area.
