How to Find the Average Rate of Change

Let's look at how to find the average rate of change for a non-linear function. The reason we call this an average rate of change instead of rate of change like we did for a linear function is that the rate of change for a non-linear function will vary for different domains. The average rate of change will grab a segment of a function and essentially just find the slope between 2 points, thus averaging out the rate of change for this interval.
