Pull-ups are great for building the lats, but they aren't the only way to build a bigger and thicker back. Straight arm exercises are an effective way to work your entire back with an emphasis on your lats.
Sample routine:
#1 Warm-up with 5 sets of isometric lat pull-downs for 6s each.
#2 sets of straight arm pulls on bands, cables, or a pull-up bar. 5-12 reps.
#3 Finish with as many reps as you can do of rows or pull-up variation of your choice in 3 minutes.
