Throughout History in Asia there was an execution and torture method which aimed to starve someone to death in public. The Cangue was a wooden board which was secured around the neck and the point of this was to prevent someone being able to feed themselves. Someone was locked into the Cangue for a significant amount of time, and sometimes until they died. It was also a torture method, and someone slowly starved and had to rely on food being given to them.
