A short excerpt from some content I am evolving into a full blown coaching curriculum for baseball and golf coaches/trainers.

Technology can be an invaluable tool, but it is only as good as how it is used. When it comes to using motion-force measurement clinically in sports whether coaching, training, rehabilitation it is critical to have a clear understanding of what you are measuring and why… even more importantly, the information must integrate with effective application. What I am currently seeing is a big spike in new technologies in sports performance and injury, but no clear idea of how it should be used. Too much information, Too Complicated, and Lacking any real ‘functional’ insight. It’s easy to get sucked into the current technology ‘feeding frenzy’. My suggestion is take a step back, do some research – understand that these technologies have been around and used in research for more than 30 years. Take the time to understand what metrics are outcome measures and what metrics are causational. Build training or treatment programs around foundational movement issues, rather than trying to put a ‘Band-Aid’ on outcomes.
