how much do we sleep in our lifetime? How much do we sleep?
With the recommended sleep for different age group, such as
12 to 16 hours per day for infants until 1 year (average 14 hrs x 365.25 = 5114 hrs or 213 days)
10 to 13 hour for baby until 5 years (11.5 hours x 4 years = 16802 hrs or 700 days)
9-12 hours for age group of 6-12 years (10.5 hrsX 7 years= 26846 hrs or 1119 days)
8-10 hours for age group of 13-18 years and (9 hrs x 6 years = 19724 hrs or 822 days)
8 hours for the adults and beyond (8 hrs x 62 years = 181164 hrs, or 7548 days)
It can be estimated that humans on average will sleep about 219,650/701280 hours or 9152 days of our life time. That’s considering that we live until 80 years.
Now that’s nearly 25 years or 1/3 of our life span spent on sleeping alone.

While, substantial portion of our time is taken away by sleep it is not a waste though,
According to sleep foundation:
Sleep is said to be an essential body function that allows your body and mind to recharge, refresh and the allows brain to function properly.
And lack of sleep has been linked to a higher risk for certain diseases and medical conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and poor mental health.

However, oversleeping, or long sleeping, defined as sleeping more than nine hours can equally have negative impact on our health such as obesity, heart disease and diabetes.
So, we can see that both short and long sleep durations are associated with a number of health concerns and chronic diseases, therefore lets sleep optimally and live a healthy and long life.
