The Boeing EA-18G Growler is an American carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft, a specialized version of the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet built by Boeing and developed from the Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet. The EA-18G will replace the Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowlers in service with the United States Navy. The EA-18G Growler first flight was on the 15th of August 2006 and was later introduced on the 22nd of September 2009. The EA-18G Growler is an airborne electronic attack aircraft capable of providing force level electronic warfare support by disrupting, deceiving or denying a broad range of military electronic systems, including radars and communications. Primary users are the United States Navy and Royal Australian Air Force. The unit cost is US$68.2 million (flyaway cost, Fiscal year (FY) 2012).
