4K: Norfolk & Western 611 Farewell at Strasburg
Since arriving at Strasburg in May of 2021, Norfolk & Western 611 has made thousands of memories for visitors to the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania. However, after two full years of operation, it was announced that the 611 would be leaving Strasburg after a month of activities in May 2023 and returning to Virginia. This event would culminate with public excursions during the last two weekends of May, with large crowds both onboard and trackside. As is typical when 611 is running, Strasburg ran their ex. Norfolk & Western 475 opposite with the two trains meeting at Groff's Grove. 611 was wearing a different whistle for these trips, rumored to be the Preston Claytor owned example that 611 wore during the 1980s and 1990s.
