INGREDIENTS
190g (1 1/2 cups) of flour
200ml (3/4 cup) of milk
90g of butter (melted)
70g (1/4 cup) of sugar
2 egg whites
2 egg yolks
10g of baking powder
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
Strawberries
Maple syrup
Icing sugar
Hazelnut cream
METHOD
1. In a bowl, start whisking the egg whites with half of the sugar. You should get a foam mixture.
2. Separately, combine the yolks with the remain sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt and start whisking. As you continue to stir, also add the milk and melted butter.
3. Continue by adding the sifted flour and baking powder, you should get a homogeneous mixture.
4. Now is the time to incorporate the egg whites a little at a time. Mix well with gentle movements from the bottom up.
5. Now all you have to do is pour the mixture into the waffle iron. Alternatively, you can cook them in a pan and give them a circular shape, like pancakes.
6. Serve them warm. You can leave them plain or add maple syrup and fresh fruit, or hazelnut cream for a more delicious result.
7. They will keep in an airtight container for at least 2 days. Or you can also freeze them and reheat them for breakfast!
